Your past kept you in a cage, your mind wouldn’t set you free, every night you begged it to come back to reality. Guilt clutched you in it’s claws, breaking down your defences, causing you to feel as if you’d lost all of your senses. Anxiety broke your spirit and as a victim it was taken, and when you thought you’d finally escaped it proved you were mistaken. Leaving you feeling powerless and convinced of your sin, this monster lurking in your mind thinks that it can win.

It constantly wants to occupy you as it’s selfish prods persist, your train of thought can’t stop in it’s tracks no matter how you resist. Nothing can distract you from the stories it invents, it tries it’s hardest to make you wonder what it represents. It makes you start to question if what it says is really true, demanding that your motives you continuously review. You know that by engaging with it’s pestering you allow it to intrude but sometimes dealing with it head on is harder you conclude.

It observes those around you, examining every move, leaving you with the feeling that your innocence you must prove. It breeds compulsive actions, controlling what you do, manipulates your behaviour but makes you adamant it is you. However gradually you make progress, just one step at a time, from deep inside your darkest thoughts positivity starts to climb. Then this bully on your shoulder who whispers lies into your ear, when you stop fearing him will suddenly disappear.
